Cars for Kids - Helping Handicapped Kids

Cars for Kids-Southern Style, Inc. was formed in 1990, two years after founder Larry Price’s son, Chad had been in a bicycle accident with another child and was laying in a hospital with a head injury- Larry made a promise to God that if his child was saved from lifelong injuries he would spend the rest of his life raising funds for disabled children.

Cars For Kids

Seeing his son near death changed Larry’s life as a Dixie Door Slammer drag racer! Larry called his car and drag race friends and started a fundraiser in Selmer, Tennessee that raised $24,000 the first event! That first money went to Carl Perkins Prevention of Child Abuse Center, St. Jude Hospital, musclar dystrophy and cerebral palsy centers.

Currently, Cars for Kids holds several events throughout the nation and raises close to $200,000 per year for Car Charity that help children in need. Larry’s son, Chad, that was injured in the near death accident now helps his dad with the events.

Larry called on many of his friends throughout the years to help with the events and sponsors. Many long time friends such as Bobby Umstead, Jerry Hall, Daniel Smith, Nathan Bagwell, Bobby Russom, Ken Stapleton and Richard Small show up every year with their cars or sponsors to help raise money for the disabled children and charities.

Many of the nation’s Children Hospitals are familiar with Larry’s efforts and look forward to his events and donations. Cars for Kids has many stories from families on how the funds have helped their families and children.

Help us build a milestone and benefit for children who are in need of aid!
